About the course

Moxibustion is a traditional warming technique used alongside acupuncture and acupressure to bring heat to selected points and meridian regions. In this equine-specific course, you’ll learn how to apply moxibustion within the TCM framework you already understand. We’ll explore point and meridian applications, warming techniques, Cold and Deficiency patterns, treatment planning, horse response, and how moxa can complement hands-on acupressure. The emphasis is not simply on learning how to hold a moxa stick. It is on understanding why you are choosing warmth, where you are applying it, and whether it suits the individual horse in front of you.

Built for practitioners with an acupressure foundation

Previous foundational acupressure education is required. You should already be comfortable with equine acupoints, meridian pathways, Yin and Yang, Cold and Heat, and basic Deficiency and Excess concepts. This allows the course to focus on the integration of moxibustion rather than reteaching foundational TCM theory. Because moxibustion involves heat, smoke, and an active heat source, equine and barn safety are also an important part of the course, including horse tolerance, fire risk, bedding and hay considerations, and recognizing when moxa should not be used.
